The main patented ingredient contained in each product is bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate. Probably easiest to just google it
Hair is fibre. Composed of the keratin protein, your hair consists of millions of disulfide bonds, which hold the protein structures of your hair shaft together. These bonds can be damaged by high levels of heat, chemical treatments, excessive brushing and environmental exposure. Basically… anything from hair straightener addiction to extreme colour treatment can interfere with the long term health of your hair, as these stressors can damage your hair bonds.
Hairdressers love olaplex because it works with virtually all hair types and textures. Olaplex is for everyone, literally. All hair goes through stress that ultimately leads to breakage. Whether your hair is natural, colored, fine or full even extensions—all hair types benefit from the treatment.

In darker and vibrant hair colours it helps to massively reduce fade and maintains your hair’s integrity and In lightening services, from balayage to full head bleaches, we are almost evangelical when recommending Olaplex. Kylie Jenner has credited her ability to go from raven to platinum overnight because of it. want all our clients to have beautiful healthy hair they can maintain at home and Olaplex allows just that.
What’s The Difference
Different from all other hair repair systems, Olaplex struck gold with its formula. The star ingredient is Bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (google it!). It’s a patented ingredient that actively restores broken bonds repairing each hair strand from base to end finding bonds that have been broken because of hair colour, chemical straighteners, blow drying, etc.) and reconnecting them both ionically and covalently. This means that broken or weak bonds, located anywhere on the hair shaft, are targeted.
Much of the buzz surrounding Olaplex stems from its incredible capability to fend off damage from hair color. Our top colorists consider it a must for hair lightening. “Blondes and those who want the lightest strands must be on their Olaplex game,” she says. “I use Olaplex in the salon all the time. We mix part 1 into our color formulas, and we do part 2 post-color to super secure and keep my clients’ hair strong through different processes.”
Olaplex is especially useful for blondes, as going lighter than your natural color involves breaking your hair’s bonds. When you ask your stylist to lighten your hair it involves lifting out pigment using bleach or a ammoniated color, that causes swelling to the hair cuticle allowing for color or lightener to do its job. This is where Olaplex comes in because Olaplex gives the hair such strength, you’re able to colour it more often and go lighter and brighter more quickly without the fear of it snapping off.
